What does balance in the fashion world mean to you?

Balance or flow means everything. It's really our main task to ensure balance in everything we do in the magazine universes I represent. Whether it's regarding climate/environment, diversity, the interplay between print and social media, or an entirely different agenda-setting topic. But that doesn't mean it's easy. And we also make mistakes along the way. We have done so in this past year that is now nearly over. We then find balance again by learning from our mistakes, recognizing our blind spots, and perhaps reaching out for help.

What does balance in life mean to you?

It's also something I'm practicing. But it especially means being present in the here and now. Not always having plans or having my head full of everything that I must, should, or dream of doing.

It's both easier and harder with children. Easier because their needs in many ways 'override' everything; harder because you become so darn aware of where you feel you're not quite enough. Just ask a 7-year-old to caricature their mother (or father) – then you both hear and see your 'shortcomings' a bit too clearly...
